Things I do not like
- Putting busyness and multitasking on a pedestal (at the expense of relationships… and sanity).
- Checking multiple log-in sites and forms of communication just to plan a get-together or talk with friends (Why does no one just call? I have over 4,000 rollover minutes! Maybe I’m old school, but I like to hear people’s voices).
- The healthcare/insurance system (although I am thankful for what I have)
- TV commercials (Start noticing the similarities of the ones that-say- advertise for chocolate. It’ll creep you out).
- Skipping quiet time, skipping prayer
- Putting things I like to do and things that put me at peace off because I feel like I have to pursue all the busyness first (the things that make me feel like I am doing “enough”, or that I am “enough” in this life).
- Worrying
- Other people defining your life, your priorities, and assigning their scales to the things you care about. Everybody always thinks they are right: where is the humility?
- Too much information, too many voices. As an info addict, I have to admit I am overstimulated… it’s a bit of a struggle to be still and present and more so- to value the practice of stillness and presence.
- Fear.
